“I never Let my Schooling interfere with my Education”, Mark Twain once declared. Schooling and Education should not be confused. Schooling can prove to be congenial to education, provided schooling addresses education squarely. This pops up the question, what is education? To put it in a nutshell, Education is that which remains with us, when we have forgotten all that we learnt in the educational institutions. This means education is a vestige, which is nothing but the conglomeration of Problem solving ability, the Ballast of character, the skill of finesse, not a head full of facts, but the acumen to identify the most important issues to worry about and plan for in life. To put it succinctly, the inculcation of practical wisdom tempered by contemplative wisdom, is all the outcome of education. Thus the last Sloka of the Bhagvad Gita exhorts us like this –
यत्र योगेश्वरः कृष्णो यत्र पार्थो धनुर्धरः ।
तत्र श्रीर्विजयो भूतिर्ध्रुवा नीतिर्मतिर्मम ॥
Wherever there is the contemplative wisdom of Lord Krishna and the practical efficiency of Arjuna, there will be success.
This is precisely what Ved International School visualizes in the domains of Education. The students of the school leaving the portals of the school must be able to parry with life, thrusting with the sword of practical wisdom and parrying with the shield of contemplative wisdom. Such individuals leaving the portals of the school obviously will be different from the others. Yes, all people are born alike, but by education they become different, don’t they.
